The Houston Astros and Colorado Rockies begin a two-game series Saturday at the Alfredo Harp Helú Stadium in Mexico City, the latest international games for Major League Baseball.
"It's going to be exciting," Houston outfielder Chas McCormick told reporters. "To be able to go to Mexico and play in a (different) stadium, it's going to be a good time. I think it's going to be beautiful there and it's always nice to play in warm weather. Just play against the Rockies and spread the Astros and Rockies around in Mexico, it's a beautiful thing."
The 2024 regular season began in Seoul, South Korea, with the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers playing two games a week before MLB's Opening Day proper. The New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies are scheduled to play two in London this summer.
The Padres and San Francisco Giants played a two-game set in Mexico City last season, with the opener featuring 27 runs and 11 homers by 10 different players.
