State of Play 2024: Return of Sonic Generations revealed, plus Silent Hill and Death Stranding

PlayStation broadcast its State of Play this week and revealed several game releases, including Sonic X Shadow Generations, Death Stranding 2, Silent Hill 2 and more.
The over 42-minute live broadcast premiered on January 31 and revealed 13 titles the game company is working on releasing for the PlayStation 5.
It also announced another State of Play will return on February 6 with "an extensive look" at SquareEnix's Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which is available for purchase and is set to release on February 29.

Sonic X Shadow Generations
Sonic the Hedgehog returns in Sonic X Shadow Generations. The last Sonic Generations game was released over 10 years ago, in 2011, to celebrate the franchise's 20th birthday, reports GameInformer.
PlayStation says the game is a " greatest hits playlist of iconic 2D and 3D Sonic levels from Sonic Generations." Sega, the game's developer, "remastered and expanded" the levels for PlayStations 4 and 5.
The game will also introduce a new standalone campaign for Shadow the Hedgehog, a black and red hedgehog considered one of Sonic's "greatest rivals," according to SegaWiki.
Sonic X Shadow Generation release date: Sega and PlayStation have not announced a specific date yet. It isn't available for preorder, but it can be added to a wishlist on the PlayStation Store.
Silent Hill
Silent Hill:The Short Message
PlayStation announced Silent Hill: The Short Message is available now for free on the PlayStation Store.
The game follows Anita around a crumbling apartment notorious for suicides and faces the monster that haunts the area.
Konami, the game's publisher, said it marks the first wave of games it announced in 2022.
Konami partnered with developers Hexadrive to bring the game to life.

Silent Hill 2 remake
Along with the new game, PlayStation also released a trailer for a remake of Silent Hill 2.
The horror game was initially released on September 24, 2001, reports IGN. In 2022, Konami later announced a remake was slated for 2024.
Silent Hill 2 release date: To be determined.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
Kojima originally announced Death Stranding 2's development in December 2022.
The action, adventure game follows the original which was released in 2019 for the PS4.
Kojima says actors Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, and Troy Baker return to the game's universe and will be joined by Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, and George Miller.
Death Stranding 2 release date: No specific date has been announced, but the game is slated for release sometime in 2025.
